Madda Walabu University Medical and Health Science College of Goba Referral Hospital successfully organized a comprehensive awareness creation and panel discussion program focused on cervical cancer prevention, early detection, and treatment.


The event brought together stakeholders from various organizations, health professionals, Education office, Women & Children Bureau, community representatives, and invited guests to strengthen public awareness and encourage collective action in the fight against cervical cancer.

The program officially commenced with a welcoming and opening speech delivered by Associate Professor Mohammedaman Mama, Chief Executive Director of Medical and Health Science College of Goba Referral Hospital, in his opening remarks, he emphasized the critical importance of creating awareness about cervical cancer and highlighted the need for coordinated efforts among healthcare institutions, stakeholders, and the community to reduce the impact of the problem.


He further noted that awareness creation, regular screening, and timely treatment are essential measures in preventing cervical cancer and saving lives. He also reaffirmed the hospital’s commitment to expanding cancer-related health services and community education programs.

During the program, the Director of the Cancer Center at Medical and Health Science College of Goba Referral Hospital, Dr. Abubeker Kedir, presented research findings related to cervical cancer. In his presentation, he discussed the current status of cervical cancer, major risk factors, prevention mechanisms, and the importance of early screening and diagnosis.


He also elaborated on the growing need for continuous public education and strengthened healthcare interventions to effectively address cervical cancer within the community. His presentation provided valuable insights and stimulated productive discussions among participants.
