Madda Walabu University has officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Imagine 1 Day International Organization in a significant step toward improving the quality of Secondary School Education through collaborative educational development programs.
The agreement was signed with the objective of strengthening Secondary School Education by empowering teachers, school leaders, and students through capacity building training, educational support, leadership development, and community centered learning initiatives. The partnership is also expected to contribute to sustainable improvements in teaching quality and student achievement across schools in Oromia and beyond.
Speaking during the signing ceremony, Dr. Berhanemeskel Tena President of Madda Walabu University emphasized the importance of the partnership and highlighted the university’s commitment to supporting educational transformation through cooperation with national and international organizations.
Dr. Berhanemeskel stated that the MoU represents an important opportunity to create lasting educational change by combining academic knowledge, institutional experience, and practical educational interventions. He further noted that strengthening secondary education is essential for producing competent and responsible citizens who can contribute positively to national development.
The President also reaffirmed the university’s readiness to work closely with partners in promoting quality education, professional development for teachers, and improved school leadership systems. According to him, collaboration between higher education institutions and development organizations plays a crucial role in addressing educational challenges and ensuring inclusive and equitable learning opportunities.
Representing Imagine 1 day International Organization Oromia Teaching Program Coordinator Mr. Gosaye Gizaw stated that the organization focuses on improving access to quality education, enhancing teaching methodologies, strengthening school leadership, and supporting students through various educational initiatives and community engagement programs.
Mr. Gosaye further explained that the newly signed MoU aims to establish a strong partnership framework that will enable both institutions to jointly implement impactful educational programs, research activities, training opportunities, and school improvement projects. He added that the cooperation is expected to benefit teachers and students by creating more effective and inclusive learning environments.
During the ceremony, representatives from both institutions expressed their shared commitment to bringing meaningful change to the education sector and addressing existing educational challenges through sustainable and innovative approaches. Both parties agreed to work together in improving educational quality, strengthening institutional capacity, and creating better opportunities for students and educators.
